The Self-Calibrating Auditory Tone Infrared (SCATIR) Switch is a momentary-contact optical switch with auditory feedback that works by detecting a beam of reflected pulsed infrared light. The SCATIR Switch can be controlled with an eye-blink, eyebrow movement, finger movement, head movement, and facial muscle movement. Recommended for users who have difficulty activating push-button switches.

The basic kit includes the SCATIR switch and sensor. An eyeglass (shown below) and gooseneck mounting kit are available seperately.

String

The String switch is operated with an extremely light pull of the string loop. The loop can be placed around a wrist or it could be extended with a second piece of string. The String Switch is suitable for somebody who can only make weak lateral movements. It is suitable as an input to a computer or communication aid. It would not be suitable for wheelchair control.

Wobble

A wobble switch is designed to cope with the harshest of treatments. It is basically a rigid box with a flexible spring coming out of the top. The spring may be moved in any direction to operate the switch and will withstand a lot of abuse. The Wobble switch is suitable for users where only gross movements may be possible. This kind of switch would normally be centrally located to a person so that a sweep of the arm will hit the spring and activate the switch.

Tilt

A very small and useful switch that comes with a “velstrap” headband. The Tilt switch is operated by being tilted forward or backwards through only a few degrees and is ideal for users with very little movement. It can be attached to any limb or the head and angled to make use of whatever little movement is available at that point.

Pressure Mat

The pressure mat has a large surface area which when walked upon activates the switch. The switch can be connected to a portable bleeper to alert a carer or it could be connected to toys to encourage a child to move.

The Sound operated switch is a portable, battery operated switch ideal for patients unable to use any form of mechanical switch, but who have speech or the ability to make clicking noises with their tongue. The sensitivity and the time the switch stays on can be adjusted. The sound switch is ideal for night-time positioning when access to a mechanical switch is not possible. Connect the switch to a cordless remote bleeper so that the individual can alert a carer or parent in another room. Supplied with microphone and batteries.

Leaf

The leaf switch is activated by pressing one side of the leaf. The leaf switch requires very little force to activate and can be used effectively as a head or chin switch. A 75mm diameter disc is also supplied and can be fitted over the top to increase the target area. For fixing to a wheelchair or table edge a special clamp is available which will allow it to be attached to any of our mounts.
