This is the theme of our exhibit at this years RehaCare.

The show is on from Tuesday 20th September to Saturday 24th September in Dusseldorf, Germany.

We will be present in Hall 5 at stand C10.

ClickToPhone is now available for the Android platform and will work on many smart phones including the HTC Wildfire, HTC Flyer, Samsung Galaxy and ViewSonic ViewPad pictured above.

ClickToPhone enables a switch user to control Android smart phones and tablet devices. The switch connects to the phone using bluetooth hardware. The software enables control over the phone’s functions through a rich graphical interface.

More on CAPPIES

CAPPIES comes from disability and capabilities and that’s exactly the point. A special program for children who can not be stopped by their physical disability to do things they like and what they are proud. Also this year are five key kids who despite their physical restrictions continue where others stop: Sam (13) has a developmental motor, but let everyone see how wonderful it is to make music. On his djembe he plays the stars of heaven. Frederique (10), spastic hemiplegia and loves horse riding, soccer and snowboarding. Glenn (11) was born without arms, but blows everyone away with his Magic Flute (wind instrument). “You still can have great fun with disabilities,” says Rosa (12). Despite her forearm, she is a  badminton player. She is also fond of street dance. Sophie (11) shows to see what they can do. Her disability is spina bifida, and her talent is swimming. The winner, chosen by a special jury in the room, not only conquer the CAPPIES Award 2011, but is  1 year NSGK Child Ambassador. He or she is committed for one year for children with disabilities.

The applications below work particularily well with ClickToPhone and are now bundled together with ClickToPhone software when you order a complete phone/hardware solution.

Android Music – The generic Android music player and still one of the best (for Wildfire S and Desire S users set this app as the default music player in ClickToPhone-> Settings->Preferences->Homepage Applications).

QuickPic – A simple to use picture viewing app (for Wildfire S and Desire S users set this app as the default picture viewer).

Facebook – Social networking software.

Aldiko – Book reader software. Requires the “Expand expert keyboard” option to be enabled to access the menu functions.

QuickSnap – a simple camera application. If you cannot take pictures using the camera on your phone using ClickToPhone then install this app and change the default app for taking photos to this app.

Remote Web Desktop – For technicians and support engineers this App enables you to remotely connect to a user’s phone and backup or restore their ClickToPhone settings.

As well as making/receiving calls, sending/reading text messages ClickToPhone for Android allows you to play your music files, browse your photographs, take pictures and much more. Below are some screen grabs from the HTC Wildfire.

The seminar is aimed at care-workers, musicians, volunteers and policy-makers interested in using music and other arts in their work with people with disabilities. It will bring together people in the disability sector to highlight the exciting developments in music education with a particular focus on assiive technology.

The presenters include:

• Ruud van der Wel and Karin van Dijk – MyBreathMyMusic in Holland
• Russ Palmer – ‘Feel the Music’ deaf/blind musician from the UK
• Orla Busteed – ‘Harp Therapy in Healthcare’

It promises to be a fantastic day with lots of learning opportunties for best practice in providing music tuition and performance for/by people with special needs. We will be there with the Magic Flute providing demonstration and workshops throughout the day.
